For years, residents of Malungo and Mnazi Mmoja villages carried the heavy burden of water scarcity. They walked long distances to fetch unsafe water, risking exhaustion and waterborne diseases. Children missed school to help their mothers and farmers lost valuable time that could have been spent in their fields. Families also spent large amounts of money on medical treatment for illnesses caused by unsafe water, draining household resources and limiting opportunities for growth.
A Dream Fulfilled in 2025
In 2025, through the partnership between DMDO and World Vision Tanzania with funding from the Grille Foundation, this long-held dream became reality. Through the innovative prepaid water metres, residents of Malungo and Mnazi Mmoja villages can access to clean and safe water 24/7 hours a day.
